Muiria hortenseae is a tufted dwarf succulent. It is a very rare mesemb that grows in the Tanqua Karoo. This is a prime example of endemism, where a plant is restricted to a small region, sometimes even a single farm, as is the case of Muiria hortenseae. The leaves are covered in soft fur and it has waxy white flowers during spring and summer.
