SOUTH AFRICA 5 SHILLINGS 1948

  • DIMENSIONS(MM)-1000 x 1000 x 1000mm

  • weight 0.200

  • year-1948
This is a South African 5 Shillings coin from 1948, featuring King George VI on the obverse and a springbok on the reverse.
Here's a bit of history about the coin:
Currency: From 1910 to 1961, South Africa used the South African Sterling, which was equal in value to the British Pound Sterling.
Value: Five shillings were equal to 1 crown, which was 1/4 of a Pound Sterling.
Composition: These coins were struck in 80% silver and weigh 28.28 grams.
Design: The springbok design on the reverse is the same one that later appeared on the famous Krugerrand gold coin.
