A VERY rare find and most unusual collection - five vintage cut-throat razors your great-grandfather would have used - as well as some notorious murderers.

They are being offered at auction with no reserve!

The collection belonged to my uncle, George Bury, who saw active service in WW2. It includes a Henckels razor made in Solingen, Germany. The family tale is that George, who was powerfully built, acquired it from a German soldier in North Africa who in hand-to-hand combat tried to slit his throat with it. George survived, the German soldier was not that fortunate. I should add this tale was never authenticated and George would not discuss it.

All the razors seem to be made of top quality steel and are still razor sharp (sorry), so extreme caution must be used when handling them.

This vintage collection of five consists of:

  • An INVICTA razor manufactured by EM Dickinson Ltd., Sheffield, England. Except for a few small rust spots, it is in good condition, as is the razor case.
  • JA Henckels, Solingen Zwillingswerk, Germany. This famous company was founded in 1731 and even today is a world class knife brand. This razor is in extremely good condition considering its age, although there are a few small rust spots. The razor case bearing the company's name and famous logo is in reasonable condition.
  • A Bengall razor manufactured by TR Cadman & Sons, Sheffield, England. The razor case, however, describes it as a Royal Navy Razor. It is quite possible the razor and case do not belong together. This razor is in good condition and the case is fair.
  • Another Bengall razor also manufactured by TR Cadman & Sons, Sheffield, although the shape of the blade is different to the one above. The condition of the blade is very good with only one rust spot. The condition of the case is fair.
  • The fifth razor is badly rusted and it is not possible to ascertain the manufacturer, although a label on the badly worn case describes it as being supplied by Roemer's Cutlery and Grinding Works, 17 Parliament Street, Cape Town.

This is as fuller description as is possible to give to this fine collection. The condition is good, although in the same breath I must say time has taken its toll, as would be expected considering they were all manufactured probably around 80 years ago.

Please feel free to ask any questions.
