Vitex harveyana Seeds

Scrambling Fingerleaf, Three Finger-leaf

Vitex is a genus of flowering plants in the family Lamiaceae. It has about 250 species. Vitex is a genus of shrubs and trees, from 1 to 35m tall. Some species have whitish bark that is characteristically furrowed. Leaves are opposite, usually compound. The fruit is a drupe. Vitex harveyana commonly known as Scrambling Fingerleaf or Three Finger-leaf is a South African indigenous species from the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga Provinces. It is synonymously known as Vitex geminata and Vitex schlechteri. It grows into an upright to scrambling multi-stemmed shrub of up to 3 meters tall. It has trifoliate leaves which are dark green above. During spring it bears 4 lobed violet flowers which are followed by fleshy glossy black edible fruit.
