Watsonia is a genus of plants in the Iridaceae family native to South Africa. The genus is named after Sir William Watson, a British botanist.

There are 52 species in southern Africa; all are perennial herbs growing from corms and producing erect spikes of showy flowers, and are adapted to a mediterranean-type climate.

Watsonia watsonioides is a South African indigenous species from the Mpumalanga Province. It was previously known as Tritonia watsonioides and Watsonia flavida. This summer growing species grows from 50cm to 100cm tall with leaves that have heavily thickened margins. From summer to autumn it bears many small pale yellow/maroon flowers. The seeds are best sown at the start of spring.
