Pinotage is Africa’s unique contribution to grapes. A crossing of Cinsault with Pinot Noir, it was created at Stellenbosch University in 1925. Its wines convey wild mulberry and blackberry flavors with hints of nut and toast, and a velvety texture.
A dark garnet colored wine with an attractive red fruit nose. On the palate, ripe berries, cherries, vanilla and spice combine with smooth tannins. Impressively soft and approachable, this Pinotage is very versatile. It can be served as an aperitif or with barbecued ribs, game, burgers, pizza, stew, or even goat cheese.
