One day in the forest glades with glass in hand, Dionysus took rude insult from a passing mortal that refused to show him respect. With the click of his fingers, he summoned two voracious tigers to devour the girl and sat back with his wine to watch. Amethyst cried in terror to her goddess and when Diana saw what was about to transpire she transformed the young maiden into a glimmering statue of pure white quartz to protect her from the frenzied beasts. Racked with pity, Dionysus realized the callousness of his actions and wept with sorrow. As the tears dripped into his goblet, Dionysus collapsed and the tear-tainted wine spilt onto the quartz from the chalice. The white quartz absorbed the wine's color creating this gem!!
