***STUNNING MID CENTURY LARGE GREEN LUCIA PITCHER VASE ***
Markings: Impressed LUCIA WARE 1972
. Dimensions: 200 mm long over handle x 170 mm tall!

One small chip at the base - but it most likely occurred as it was chiseled off the kiln shelf - on the underside. See pic. Does not detract from the value in our opinion.

SOUTH AFRICAN GLAZING COMPANY was first established. Afterwards subsidiary BEP (Boksburg East Potteries) was formed and under that subsidiaries LUCIA WARE and JOY-CHINA (and under them DISA WARE and VERMONT). Each did different wares. BEP marked wares were initially only on white tea pots and jugs but later followed the LUCIA WARE styling which predominatly made ornaments and vases from the onset. ALL of the above shared moulds between them Wendy Gers remarks in Scorched Earth that she recalls seeing a BEP impressed mark with a VERMONT sticker on an article once! LUCIA WARE is just more sought after because of the name and that very cool sticker I think.
