This Native American heirloom has a history predating 1700. It forms large fruits that are 6 to 9kg globes that are flattened on the ends. It typically grows 30cm in height and diameter. The rind is hard but thin and slightly ribbed. The flesh is sweet and thick. Can be planted among your cornfield and used for canning or for making pies. Don't forget about the seeds! They make some of the tastiest roasted pumpkin seeds. Connecticut Field pumpkin is excellent for making canned pumpkin or baking, or an excellent carving pumpkin for Halloween!
