I have not had much luck exchanging the drives with the local samsung and hitachi suppliers, as I bought them from someone else, and I dont have the original Proof of purchase. Use them for doorstops, use them for spares, use them for modern art.
You can have fun with it - freak someone out by throwing a drive against the floor/out the windowwhen they think it is theirs, while theirs is safely tucked away
If you have the contacts, or want to do your own RMA with samsung and hitachi, here is the serial numbers: (zeroes and ohs might be wrong) most of the samsungs are under warrantee if you check the samsung global website
