Most unposted. Most have marks/stains and other signs of age such as an 'old smell'. These would be great to use in an interior decoration project. They could be framed individually. There are a few images from Madeira but MOST of these postcards are from Italy - various parts of Italy - Rome, Bari, Naples, Pompei, Perugia... Below the main photograph I have included some close-up scans of a few of the postcards. I would guess that many of these date from the 1940s.
