Here we have a 1991 rugby world cup commemorative plate It
has been created by Carmarthenshire ceramics specialist
Harvey Thomas. Now in his 70s, Mr Thomas is a former senior
lecturer in creative arts at Trinity College, Carmarthen, who was
brought up in the Gwendraeth Valley village of Pontyates. A
lifelong Scarlets supporter, he played in the same Llanelli
Schoolboys team as Stradey legend and 1950s British Lion Terry
Davies. Over the years Mr Thomas, of Capel Dewi, near
Carmarthen, has created a number of plates for Llanelli RFC and
has a number of items on show in the Stradey Park museum.
They include representations of rugby greats such as Delme
Thomas and Carwyn James.The plate is limited edition .
