An antique trio by A.B. Jones and Sons, which operated from the Grafton Works in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. This trio, remarkably, dates from the early years of the factory: the back stamp was in use only between 1900 and 1913, making this trio a true antique! Each piece features a broad band of pink roses towards the edge, followed by a narrower band with pink and light purple flowers against a black and white background. Thus the name of this pattern: ‘Rose Negre’ (Black Rose), probably also because in the broad band the leaves of the roses are black and not green. The rims are all gilded.
All three pieces are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. There is a tiny bit of pattern loss, and some loss of gilding, especially on the rim and handle of the cup. Please study the photos carefully to get an impression.
Dimensions: The cup measures about 7.7 cm across (excluding the handle) and is 6.3 cm high. The diameter of the saucer is about 13.8 cm and its height 1.7 cm. The cake plate is about 17.3 cm across.
