This exquisite and heavily carved traditional Pakistani grain chest/ cabinet is most likely made out of cedar wood and based on the design looks to come from the Buner Valley of Pakistan. The gran chest measures 146cm long x 66cm wide x 159.5cm high and is a larger example of of these incredible chests. The grain chest has an ingenious locking system where the centre panel would need to be unlocked and slid out of the top of the cabinet so that the two side doors can be opened. The cabinet has fantastic weight to it and is a substantial piece of furniture. This wonderful rustic Pakistani piece was made using only hand tools and were very often the product of joint families workmanship, who would then share the grain in winter. The circular motifs represent families sharing large and abundant harvests and the finials are meant to represent rams heads. Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate the amazing heavily hand carved Pakistani grain cabinet cupboard and to confirm the condition.
