A Century of South African Poetry (new)

A Century of South African Poetry appears now in its second printing.

 The anthology recognises both the 'traditional' and the 'radical' and is the most comprehensive anthology of South African English poetry, from its beginnings in the work of Thomas Pringle, Frederick Brooks and Andrew Geddes Bain to the voices of the 1970s, during which South African poets were emancipated from a literary colonialism. In an incisive introduction Michael Chapman refutes the claim that South Afrian English poetry is a narrow and 'educated man's affair'; stead, his wide-ranging and often daring selection reveals its full rich diversity.
