Condition: Fair. The boards have a faded, mottled appearance with some white markings to lower edge of the front panel. Lettering on spine intact. Heavy rubbing to extremities of spine, the foot, and corners--but not scuffed or frayed. Edges of text-block foxed. Endpapers age-toned with limited foxing. Prelims foxed. Substantial light brown staining in margins and across some of the pages on pp. 43-49. Persistent foxing throughout first half of text block, and more occasionally so for remainder. No inscriptions, no underlining or highlighting, no annotations or marginalia. Binding secure, no loose, missing, or torn pages.
Jacket condition: Poor. Shelf-rubbed, spine faded. Front flap neatly torn off the jacket along the hinge (severed part is placed inside the book). No other large tears, but numerous smaller tears, 35mm max, into the jacket edges, with creasing and substantial chipping. Hinges of spine and rear flap heavily rubbed, with some scuffing. Mild foxing on rear flap and inside of jacket.
