AN ABSOLUTELY LOVELY ROYAL DOULTON, CHARLES DICKENS SERIES PLATE OF POOR JO. THIS PLATE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND MEASURES 26cm. Jo the crossing sweeper - from Bleak House - is one of Dickens's most sentimental characters and is the twenty first in the Telegraph pick of the best Charles Dickens characters.

Charles John Noke was an avid admirer of his Dickens work and was in part responsible to incorporation his characters into the Royal Doulton lines. To hear him speak of the various characters, one would think they were people he had actually met in the flesh and not merely between the covers of a book.The most prevalent of the Dickens series is Dickens Ware “A," which was introduced in 1908.The series range was increased in 1917; by 1930 production had all but stopped. In 1931 a limited series was reintroduced based on the different color scheme.
