This fabulous antique brass sad iron is a stunning piece to have on display, there is age related wear that adds character to this lovely ornate iron. The iron measures 8cm x 16cm x 16cm high. A thousand years ago, where the electricity was not available, people used a pan filled with hot coals pressing over stretched cloth to make it smooth. During the mid-19 th century, blacksmiths learned to forge smoothing irons before the flat irons also called smooth irons or sad irons were established. Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate this fantastic iron and to confirm the condition.
