THIS EXCEPTIONALLY RARE VINTAGE (1938) ROYAL DOULTON "COLOUR VERSION" VOORTREKKER EEUFEES (CENTENARY; 16 DECEMBER 1838 TO 16 DECEMBER 1938) BATTLE OF BLOOD RIVER COMMEMORATIVE PLATE MEASURES 26.5cm ACROSS.

THE FRONT OF THE PLATE READS AS FOLLOWS:

“BY GELEENTHEID VAN PRETORIA EN BLOEDRIVIER, VOORTREKKER EEUFEES;” “VOORSTELLING VAN ZOELOE-AANVAL OP LAER" AND “16 DESEMBER 1838 - 16 DESEMBER 1938”

THE REVERSE READS:

“UITSLUITLIK GEPRODUSEER VIR GEBR. LAZAR, 244 KERK STREET, PRETORIA, TER HERDENKEN AAN DIE VOORTREKKEREEUFEES” WITH THE ROYAL DOULTON, MADE IN ENGLAND" HALLMARK STAMP.

THE PLATE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO CHIPS OR CRACKS AND ABSOLUTE MINIMAL AGE RELATED WEAR AND TEAR.

IF YOU ARE A COLLECTOR, THEN THIS PLATE IS A MUST, THEY DON'T COME ONTO THE MARKET VERY OFTEN. ROYAL DOULTON BROUGHT OUT TWO VARIANCES, A "COLOURED" VERSION AND THE RARER "MONOCHROME" BLACK AND WHITE VERSION.
