A spectacular Wade Heath Art Deco jug with drip glaze
A handsome Wade Heath Art Deco jug in sponged green and brown drip glaze. Shape name & No. - 131 MS.
This jug was made about 1936, as the mark is Mark No. 4 and recorded as being introduced in 1936. The Mark says Flaxman Ware (smudged) Hand Painted Pottery By Wade Heath England
Among the factories in Burslem producing high grade earthenware is that of Wade, Heath and Co., Ltd., of the Royal Victoria Pottery group, and is by no means the least in repute. It is one of three works in the High Street area which (since 1935) comprise the Wade group and its productions include fancy, ornamental and domestic table ware.
This firm was founded towards the end of the eighteenth century and had occupied Flaxman's Tile Works (still in the hands of the Wades and where this item was made), but was only formed into a limited liability company in 1927.
Wade pottery is generally very sought after.
Size of the jug is 19 cm tall.
The condition is superb with no chips, cracks, crazing, discolouration or repairs.
Postage and packaging will be at cost to the successful bidder which is R27.00, parcel post, counter to counter.
