A joint-biography of Mr and Mrs James Harvie, Wellington, Cape Province, South Africa.

Hard cover, navy boards with gilt lettering lettering to spine. The binding is intact and the pages are crisp white, 124 pages. No publication date. Foreword dated 1927. Name and address of previous owner written on first title page. Published by H.R. Allenson Ltd. London and printed in Great Britain by James C. Erskine & Sons, Glasgow, dated 20.12.1907.
The residue of some glue spoils the top of the spine and the top of the back board. Please see photographs for condition and content.
Opposite the title page are two photographs of Mr and Mrs Harvie. A scarce book.
For health reasons James Harvie, accompanied by his wife, left Scotland for sunny South Africa. He became the founder and first principal of the Wellington Training College where men and woman were trained as teachers.
The Harvies arrived in South Africa 1895 and in January 1896 the first students were enrolled at Wellington.
The book is a little gem, more so with those with ties to Wellington and teaching.
