This gorgeous and unusual antique (1924) hallmarked sterling silver baby rattle/ teething bell measures 5cm long x 2.7cm wide and weighs 10.25g. The bell most likely would have been on an ivory ring which would have been the teether, but it looks like the baby took a liking to the bell. The hallmarks on the bell consist of the lion Passant confirming it is British sterling silver (925), the anchor Assay mark confirming the bell was made in Birmingham and the date letter "z" confirming it was made in 1924. I am not able to make out the makers stamp. There is age and usage related wear and tear that one would expect to see on an antique teething piece. Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate this wonderful antique sterling silver bell and to confirm the condition. The last couple of pics show what the rattle/ teether would have looked like.
