The anonymous author of this Handbook to the Boer War has written a book that brings valuable, firsthand insight to the acts and attitudes of the British Forces during the second Boer War. The accuracy of the book stems from the fact that the author spent twenty six months serving in action during the war. The viewpoint he presents is therefore mainly from the British perspective. The author has been able to verify his accuracy by utilising the availablity of the War Office History, which had been published prior to this book being printed. He is critical of the Senior Officers of the British, and explains his personal opinions as to why their actions in some cases

led to the Boers holding out for as long as they did. This book is a useful addition to the Boer War hisitory. It was originaly published in 1910. Now available as digital editions.
