Description: A handmade heavy copper pan, late Georgian era.
Maker: Unknown, but the large dovetail design shows it is likely to be of English origin
Date: Difficult to date accurately estimated late 1700's to early 1800's
History: A handmade hammered and cut, dovetailed pan, the joints being brazed together with brass. Note the mark left by the point of the compass in the center of a pan's floor used to create a circle. The long copper handle was fitted by use of large heavy rivets. The pan was then 'tinned'. Later Victorian pots/pans were 'pressed' showing no dovetailing.
Marks/Observations: Take note of the rivets used, later rivets were smaller. The rolled top is rarely seen and the copper handle used points to an early manufacture, iron handles (often cast) were usually seen in the Victorian era
Condition:The 'tinning' is worn and later repairs with lead show there would have been slight seepage at one rivet.
Dimensions: Diameter 25cm, height 8cm, length of handle 25cm, weight 1280 grams.
Price: R1200.00
Shipping: Post R85.00
