This boat is steam driven. It is made of wood except for the metal part in the front with the holes. The steam engine originally had a metal part the same as the front metal part covering it.

It may be a good idea to view the one currently on ebay. Note all photo's --some flacking of paint and rust on metal part. I have not tested this item---instructions and original box--both not in good condition. The box has lost wood on one side.
