A. Lomax: Portret van 'n Suid-Afrikaanse Dorp / Portrait of a South African Village - Molteno 1894-1909

A selection of photographs of people and scenes from the town of Molteno and surrounds. The photographer, Ambrose Lomax was born in England in 1867, eventually settling in South Africa with his parents. After a time employed as a chemist, he opened his own chemist and photographic studio. These are some of his works, chosen by the author, the entire collection having been donated to the Cape Archives.

Copy number 174 of a limited edition of 500 copies, published by Bamboesberg-Uitgewers, Molteno, 1964. 127 pages including a one-page index. Bookplate of J. Acheson pasted to first endpaper.
