THIS MAGNIFICENT AND RARE ANTIQUE (1898 TO 1898 - BASED ON THE SERIAL NUMBER SEARCH) 14ct GOLD PLATED AW WALTHAM & Co. OPEN FACE WIND-UP POCKET WATCH IS IN WORKING CONDITION AND KEEPS TIME WELL. THE POCKET WATCH IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND A REALLY BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF VINTAGE (VICTORIAN) POCKET WATCHES. THE INSIDE OF THE BACK COVER IS ENGRAVED AS FOLLOWS: "GUARANTEED TO BE MADE OF TWO PLATES OF 14 ct GOLD WITH PLATE OF COMPOSITION BETWEEN AND TO WEAR 20 YEARS". THE POCKET WATCH HAS BEEN IN STORAGE FOR MANY YEARS, SO WOULD BE WORTH TAKING IT IN FOR A SERVICE. THESE RARE POCKET WATCHES WERE NO LONGER PRODUCED AFTER 1949.
