THIS SPECTACULAR RARE ANTIQUE (1922 TO 1925) HAWKES & SONS (OF DENMAN STREET, LONDON) "20th CENTURY MODEL" STRAIGHT SOPRANO SAXOPHONE WITH SERIAL NUMBER #50063 WAS MADE BY ONE OF ONLY TWO COMPANIES IN ENGLAND AT THE TIME THAT PRODUCED MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS (HAWKES AND SONS, AND GRAFTON). HAWKES AND SONS MADE VIOLINS, BUGLES, TRUMPETS, SAXOPHONES CLARINETS ETC UNTIL 1930 WHEN THE COMPANY MERGED WITH ITS THEN BIGGEST COMPETITOR BOOSEY & COMPANY. THROUGH MY RESEARCH, I ONLY CAME ACROSS THREE OF THESE MAGNIFICENT STRAIGHT SAXOPHONES, ONE WAS A "NEWER" MODEL ON EBAY, THE ONE ON THE LINK BELOW AND ONE WHERE OWNER ADVISED THAT HE WOULD NEVER PART WITH IT. THE SAX IS VALUED AT AROUND R 21 000.00. THIS IS ONE OF THE SAXOPHONES THAT KENNY G PLAYS, INCLUDING THE ALTO AND THE TENOR SAXOPHONES. THE SAX IS 66.5cm LONG AND HAS A G.C. CONN MOUTHPIECE. PLEASE VIEW THE PICS CAREFULLY FOR THE GENERAL CONDITION. AS WITH ALL MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, I ADVISE THAT THEY BE SERVICED.
