The classical semi-autobiographical bestseller that one wants to read again and again.
Han Suyin, the author, is a Eurasian with a Western medical training and Chinese instincts and sympathies. In the cosmopolitan surroundings of Hongkong she meets and falls in love with Mark Elliott, the correspondent of a British newspaper. The book is a frank memorial to their love, for Mark is killed in Korea. The book was made into the 1955 film Love is a Many-Splendoured Thing, which inspired a popular song of the same name.
First published June 1952. This is the 20th impression of 1956 by Jonathan Cape, London. Condition: Good. Jacket has wear and tear.
