TWO BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN PLATES WITH SCALLOPED GOLD TRIMMED RIMS. MARKINGS AT BACK IS CONFIRMED TO BE FROM JAPAN.
 
THE SMALLER PLATE HAS A STICKER THAT READS GENUINE IMPERIAL IMARI WITH AN UNIDENTIFIED JAPANESE SEAL MARK. Imperial Imari a contemporary interpretation of a 16th century Imari porcelain in the imperial collection.
 
THE LARGER PLATE APPEARS OLDER AND HAS A MARK AT BACK THAT TRANSLATES TO SPRING PEAK.
 
Blue and white porcelain in Japan is known as sometsuke, which means "with dye". It's made by painting a white ceramic with cobalt blue underglaze, then applying a transparent glaze before firing. The result is a vivid blue color that resembles dyed indigo. Blue and white porcelain was influenced by China, but developed its own styles over time. It's been an integral part of Japanese culture for centuries.
