Subtitle: 102 Country Churches of South Africa Author: Philippe Menache With Author's Inscription Publisher: Booktown Richmond Press (2012) ISBN-10: 0620541709 ISBN-13: 9780620541701 Condition: Very Good. The cover has a few light scratches with scuffing along edges and very small creases across the corners. Binding: Softcover Pages: 127 Dimensions: 29.7 x 21 x 1 cm +++ by Philippe Menache (With Author's Inscription) +++ We knew that there were so many beautiful church buildings, we are continually distressed to witness the degree of degradation and decay in both the architectural and environmental heritages of some of the small towns and, occasionally, some of their church buildings.
The big dangers lies in the dwindling congregations, resulting in the building being empty and subject to vandalism and destruction. It has been most encouraging, therefore, to find that some of these previously abandoned churches have been put to good alternative use. At Ladysmith in the Western Cape, the old Hager church has been converted into the local museum. Another old Hager church at Clanwilliam is used, as the venue for hosting the annual spring flower show.
