This rare antique hand-carved Oregon "Prie Dieu" prayer chair is upholstered in a fabulous brocade fabric and measures 98cm high x 49cm long x 43cm deep. The prayer chair has a slot for a bible or prayer book with a stunning hand carved cross in the centre of the backrest. The "prayer chair" (not this specific one) was used by Mary, Queen of Scots who was rumoured to have brought it to Scotland with her court when she was brought over from France as a child bride. The chair is in lovely usable condition and would also make a stunning focal piece in a living room.
