A Homemaker lidded tureen, the pattern designed by Enid Seeney and the shape by Tom Arnold for Ridgway
An iconic design of the period, it is decorated with images of furniture (like the boomerang table) and other household items that were fashionable in the 1950s. The Homemaker range is now one of the most sought-after tableware designs from the mid-20th century. A book about the range is available (Homemaker: A 1950s Design Classic by Simon Moss, second edition 2002).
While Homemaker plates do still come onto the market, items like teapots and tureens are far scarcer and thus more valuable.
This tureen is still in excellent condition, with only a few unobtrusive surface scratches from use. Diameter 235 mm; height (with lid) 125 mm.
