TWO NOVELS BY AJ CRONIN: A Song of Sixpence and the sequel A Pocketful of Rye .
Cronin is regarded as one of the great novelists of the twentieth century.
A Song of Sixpence
Pub: Heinemann, London. 1964. First Ed. Hardcover, 220 x 145mm wide, 279 pgs.
The book is secondhand and the dj (unclipped) is in a poor condition. Internally there are no inscriptions. Foxing does occur lightly through the book but is apparent on the end papers. Page edges have browned and there slight foxing and soiling. Front end page and the sub-title page is dogeared. Binding still good - no loose pages.
A Pocketful of Rye (photo below)
Pub: Heinemann, London. 1969. ISBN: 434 14871 7. First Edition. Hardcover, 220mm x 143mm wide, 217 pgs.
There are no internal inscriptions. Internally clean. Very slight foxing on end papers - does not detract. Page ends are foxed and there is what seems to be very light insect damage on the side ends - again hardly detracts. The dj (unclipped) has been bumped and rubbed on the edges with some closed tears - the worst being top of the spine - see photo. Binding good - no loose pages.
Good reading copies.
