This spectacularly rare hallmarked antique Art Nouveau "Marius Hammer" of Norway Cloisonne teaspoon is a magnificent find and dates back to between 1847 and 1927. The teaspoon is in superb condition for its age and measures 12cm long. The hallmarks on the spoon confirm that it was made by Marius Hammer and is 900 solid silver. Marius Hammer perfected a process called "Plique-a-Jour" which is a vitreous enamelling technique where the enamel is applied in cells, similar to cloisonné, but with no backing in the final product, so light can shine through the transparent or translucent enamel. His cloisonne pieces (such as this spoon) are very collectable and the quality and craftsmanship is beautiful. This Art Nouveau teaspoon weighs in at 16.4g. Please view the pics carefully to fully appreciate this truly spectacular Art Nouveau teaspoon and to confirm the condition.
