Michael York narrates this live performance of the musical adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel. In 18th-century Paris, during the French Revolution, cynical London barrister Sydney Carton (James Barbour) falls for Lucie Manette (Brandi Burkhardt). Seeing Sydney only as a friend, however, Lucie marries Charles Darnay (Simon Thomas), the descendant of a French nobleman, who happens to bear a strong resemblance to Carton. Darnay's uncle, a hated Marquis, is killed at the Revolution's onset while Darnay himself is later arrested and sentenced to death. Devoted to Lucie but seeing no hope of happiness, Carton decides to take Darnay's place...
