Abrus is a genus of flowering plants in the pea family, Fabaceae and the only genus found in the Tribe Abreae. It contains, 13¿18 species, but is best known for a single species, Jequirity( precatorius). The highly toxic seeds of that species are used to make jewellery.

Abrus precatorius, known commonly as Jequirity, Crab's Eye, Rosary Pea, John Crow Bead, Precatory bean, Indian Licorice, Akar Saga, Giddee Giddee or Jumbie Bead in Trinidad & Tobago, is a slender, perennial climber that twines around trees, shrubs, and hedges. It is a legume with long, pinnate-flowered leaves.
