You are viewing a beautifully carved mahogany firescreen, Victorian period,  with a removable panel containing a silk embroidered art piece depicting a floral garland framed by another floral frame which has been placed behind glass. The embroidered piece has disintegrated in areas due to age and heat. The fire screen stands on four castors, and measures a total height of 1.01m, this was at perfect height to diffuse the heat from the fire place, preventing ladies' waxed-based makeup from melting away, and, the panel raised 27cm from ground level would have accommodated the step-up hearths of the period.I do not believe the glass or backing of the panel is original.

A few of the products listed on the BidorBuy site are also available for sale in our shop. As soon as a product sells in the shop it is removed from the BidorBuy site. As the internet connection in Dullstroom is steam driven it sometimes takes a few minutes to register. Therefore it may happen, but it is highly unlikely, that a product you buy on this site has been sold. Thanks for your understanding
