In October 1985, the Achille Lauro was high jacked by Palestinian militants taking 320 crew and 80 passengers’ hostage. The US Navy fighters forces the Egyptian Airliner attempting to fly the hijackers to freedom, forcing the jet to land at a Nato base in Sigonella, Sicily.
