xiv + 212pp + 4pp publisher's catalogue at rear. With eight illustrations in colour and sixty-two in black and white and a sketch map.


Binding tight. Contents clean with author's inscription on front endpaper and additionally signed on the frontispiece. Dust jacket in near fine condition with minimal age-associated edge wear.


'This book is an account of the Author's many adventures and experiences during a winter journey of some hundreds of miles, across the Arctic wastes of Norwegian, Finnish and Swedish Lapland, and along the frozen rivers and lakes, made early in 1931. One of her objects was to study Lapp life in Winter conditions, and to obtain a pictorial record of the people and their customs.'
