Glistening porcelain-like flowers over a long season make this rare aromatic South African shrub a collectors “must try.” To only 60 cm tall & 90 cm across, “China Flower” forms a densely branched compact evergreen shrub with small tightly held shiny green oval shaped leaves which release a distinctive anise-seed scent when touched. Opening from red buds in mid-Winter to Spring, the 2.5 cm single white flowers sport red veins above slender reddish branches creating an irresistible show. Valued as a rock garden, patio, or container subject, it can also be used as the subject for the art of bonsai! Native to the Fynbos area, it well appreciates an acid soil, so add leaf mold or peat to a well-drained mixture for best results.
