Chemical composition: Iron and non-aluminium silicates
Aegirine occurs in alkalic igneous rocks and in pegmatites.
First named achmit after the Greek αχμη, spear point, due to the crystal habit.
Later named after Ægir (Aegir) a Scandinavian sea God, in Norse mythology.
Colour: Aegerine- green to green-black (liquorice coloured) and Achmit for other colours.

Chemical composition       : A Silicate mineral found in igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks.
