Although this African Artist prefers Color oils when creating works, this is a Rare example of his versatility as he skillfully utilizes Monochrome and blends what is effectively ONLY two different colors with which to portray an African Village after nightfall. The Talent and skill in which he shades and harmonizes the blend of these two colors actually permits the Scene portrayed to have a Life of its own. One can feel the evening laying heavily upon the setting and yet still view every individual facet of the Landscape as well as all taking part in it.   From the activity in the village itself and beyond to the surrounding trees which shelter the huts in the background, one is also made immediately aware of the large Boabab tree which is a regular aspect of CHIKANGA's work. From the birds flying gracefully across the night sky and beyond to what is essentially an extremely realistic sky darkened by evening and looming thunderclouds, this work is very well executed and once framed would add an aspect of Depth and Silent Beauty to the area in which it is displayed

A small spot where the dark paint has flaked/rubbed  exists above the Boabab tree directly below where the frame will fit. This is visible due to the darkness of the background but can be "touched up" again rather easily exactly because of the dark around it.  Otherwise the ART and Canvas are in PERFECT condition.
