This one was awarded in 1945 (81 years ago), to a staff member of the Union Defence Force for service during World War II.
To qualify, personnel had to fulfil requirements between 6 September 1939, and 2 September 1945.
Struck in Silver with contents of .925 grams, featuring on obverse a raised topographical map of Africa surrounded by inscriptions;
"AFRICA SEEVICE MEDAL / AFRIKA DIENS-MEDALJE".
The reverse reflects a prancing Springbok with mountainous, veldt landscape in the background, with spelt.
