DESCRIPTION AND CONDITION
DESCRIPTION	A vintage African art mask. Nigeria (Yoruba tribe). About 50 years old. Extensively hand carved from 1 piece of wood. stained in dark brown and red pigment and kaolin and showing nice age patination. An unusual feature of this mask (not often found on African masks) is the hand grip at the bottom of the mask - which indicates that the mask was produced for theatrical rather than ritual purposes. Width: 21 cm. Height: 50 cm. Depth: 14 cm. An unusual and very decorative and collectable mask.
CONDITION	In good condition. There is a chip on the back of the mask, which is not visible when it is displayed and which can be seen in the last image below.
