Annona senegalensis is a shrub or small tree 2-6 m tall but may reach 11 m under favourable conditions. The genus name, ‘Annona’, is from the Latin word ‘anon’, meaning ‘yearly produce’, referring to the production habits of fruits of the various species in this genus.
