This is a wonderful collection of little brass sculptures from Western Africa we believe. They were acquired in the late 50's to very early 60's by someone traveling These figures are first carved in wax, then covered with mud or clay. When the mud or clay was fired to make the mold the wax melts and runs out leaving the mold for the brass. When the brass is cooled the mold must be broken to remove the sculpture, thus no two are exactly alike. We don't know if t is any practical use for them
