Vintage! Miniature Souvenir Zulu Shield.
Stunning traditional African miniature shield, Zulu ornament. These ornaments can be framed or hung. The shields are traditionally made from African nguni Cow, native to South Africa. The shields were used for protection in days gone by, but are now mainly used for traditional Zulu ceremonies and celebrations. The war-shield was tall enough to cover the warriors body and when King Shaka Zulu took over the army and revolutionized Zulu weapons, it resulted in one of the most spectacular defeats of the British army in what was called the Anglo- Zulu war in 1879.
