Mombo: Okavango's Place of Plenty

Coffee Table Book

First Edition 2004

Published by Wilderness Safaris, 2004

Mombo, A place of plenty, A place of always eating; A place of never feeling hunger. At Mombo, the people eat sour milk and honey. Yei Proverb. Mombo is located in a group of islands at the north-western tip of Chief's Island in Moremi Game Reserve. The main Okavango River splits into its primary channels just upriver from Mombo Camp, ensuring that Mombo is the wettest and, in relative terms, most fertile area in the Delta. Mombo is located entirely within the Okavango rift system, an area with deep alluvial sand deposits, supporting mixed vegetation of swamps, floodplains, rivers, woodlands and dry woodlands. There is a high diversity of wildlife, and this is the reason why Mombo is the prime wildlife destination in Southern Africa. (from the book) This book is 10 l/2 x 12 approximately and just over 5 lbs. It does not come with a dust cover, and seems to be very rare which is why the higher price. The photographs are very large, almost the size of the book, and extremely clear of the animals in Mombo, map, landscapes, and living quarters. There is also information on the people that live there, and their tales. This book is a "must-have" conversation piece for anyone interested in African Wildlife. The copyright is 2003, some sellers may have 2004 copyright, please check first if that is a concern. Also, if you would like additional photos of the item, please contact the seller.
