Agastache rugosa Seeds

Korean Licorice Mint; Korean Liquorice Mint

Agastache rugosa or Korean Licorice Mint as it is commonly known grows and blooms within the first year from seed. This stunning and hardy perennial produces an abundance of beautiful blue/purple spikes. It is ideal for a sunny or a lightly shaded border. This upright, bushy perennial is perfect for the middle of a sheltered, sunny border. Try it as part of a Mediterranean scheme, with grey-leaved plants, or among ornamental grasses. The plant itself is wonderfully fragrant. If you like the smell of black licorice, you'll love this plant. It is very strongly scented, and fun to have around. Besides being used to freshen the breath, it is said to have medicinal qualities, and can be used to flavor foods or make an herbal tea. Don't cut back the faded flower-stems in until early spring, as they provide interest in the winter months. Lift and divide congested colonies in spring.
